Shakespeare's Globe

I have recently written about Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and Bankside. Shakespeare's Globe is a reconstruction of the original theatre in London, on the south bank of the River Thames, which was part-owned by William Shakespeare, and was where his plays were performed.

To celebrate Shakespeare's Birthday on Sunday 18 April, 2010, there is a free annual open day. The day is being filled with musical mayhem, encouraging visitors to create sound effects to the witches scene in Macbeth, invite the to go on a date with Henry VIII and sing-a-long to favourite tunes with the Globe musicians. Visitors even get to tread the boards of the famous Globe Theatre stage. These exciting activities will all take place in and around the world famous exhibition center and theatre, between 12noon and 5pm (last entry 4.30pm).

Note that tickets are free but necessarily, workshops spaces will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
