Jean-Talon market

I read this very interesting article, To market, in Montreal, written by Daniel Drolet in The Ottawa Citizen about the Jean-Talon market, reckoned to be the biggest open-air market in North America. Not only is it open seven days a week, all year-round, it's surrounded by a series of specialty shops selling meat, cheese and ethnic foods.

Daniel describes it as a one-stop shop for anyone who likes food or is planning a dinner or cocktail party, especially at Christmas, when the market takes on a particularly festive atmosphere.

They kick off the Christmas season with a local cheese festival, involving cheese producers and chefs, you have missed that for this Christmas but the market is in full swing and you can enjoy a good read of Daniel Drolet's article.
