Utah's state park system celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and as part of the celebrations is hosting a state-wide geocache treasure hunt. Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for gps users, who seek out hidden treasures utilizing GPS coordinates posted on the Internet. Once geocachers discover a cache, they are asked to follow a set of simple set of rules such as filling out a logbook and should they take anything from the cache, leaving something in return.

There are numerous variations of Geocaching, including Multi-caches, where each cache provides clues or co-ordinates to the next cache, and there are also different degrees of difficulty; some caches can be hidden in open parkland but others may involve rock-climbing or scuba-diving!

Geocaching started in 2000 and there are now several hundred thousand caches around the world and several thousand trackable items that are moved from cache to cache. You can get details of geocaches in a given area by going to Geocaching.
