Mango Bay

I happened to look up Our Man in Hanoi (A Geordie in Vietnam) and found that he has just moved to a new blogspace, www.ourman.typepad.com/.

He has also been on a little R & R to Mango Bay Resort, declaring that the rumours he had heard about this exceptional place were true. I quote " It was beautiful. The staff were friendly, the resort spacious, the wildlife fantastic. It's an eco resort and its $15 rooms feel like $50 worth. Cheap enough for backpackers, good enough for anyone. Just beautiful. I will be back. I can't recommend it highly enough."

Just remember, if you take up the recommendation and enjoy one of the $15 rooms, buy a brick from our man in Hanoi as a thank you gesture; I'm sure it would be appreciated.

Mango Bay is on Phu Quoc island, 15 minutes north of Phu Quoc airport and offers a uniquely relaxing atmosphere with two deserted white sand beaches which face Vietnam's best ocean sunsets. The island is larger than Singapore but has a population of less than 80,000, and it reflects the cultural influences of both Vietnam and Cambodia.

From Mango Bay you can swim in its turquoise waters, snorkel amongst the rainbow-coloured fish of the coral. Explore the surrounding natural forest, or just lie back and watch sea eagles glide by. Both scuba diving and snorkeling trips are available on Phu Quoc island.

If you think this sounds like paradise, take a look at his photo gallery of Phu Quoc.
