Dee Caffari

Dee Caffari, sailing solo non-stop around the world against the prevailing wind, has rounded the Cape of Good hope and is on the final leg of her journey home in her 72-foot cutter Aviva.

Dee, from Southampton in the UK, still has to cover the equivalent of two transatlantic crossings, around 6,200 miles (9,978km) but has left behind the storms and cold weather of the Southern Ocean and overcome technical problems which occurred while she was near the Falkland Islands.

She hopes to finish in Ushant, France by 12 May, 2006, which would be 172 days at sea.
