Hot nights in Ice Hotels

There are just two Ice Hotels in the world, the original hotel built from thousands of tons of snow and ice, and re-built every winter in the little village of Jukkasjärvi in northern Lapland, Sweden.

In Jukkasjärvi, the days are spent exploring the Icehotel, going on excursions such as, snowmobile safaris, huskey rides, ice fishing, ice sculpting lessons or taking a dip in a hole cut from the frozen Torne River (hot sauna recommended afterwards). In the evening everyone gathers together in the famous Absolut Ice bar, and have a drink (in ice glasses) under the ice chandelier.

You can even watch Hamlet performed by the National Sami Theatre in spectacular costumes, on an ice stage that replicates the Shakespearean Globe theatre in London.

The second, Ice Hotel Quebec-Canada was inspired by the original; it offers a similar range of activities and celebrates its 5th anniversary with a festivity packed 2005 season. The hotel was revealed for the first time in Quebec for Winter 2001.

Four years later, more than 220,000 people have visited this exceptional attraction and 10,500 have enjoyed a magical overnight experience. Some have chosen to get married in their ice chapel!
